Independence Day: Our Chance to Celebrate, Appreciate and Educate

On our country’s birthday, family gatherings, fireworks and parades mark our admiration of America’s historic pathway to liberty. However, Independence Day is a time to recognize principles that reach beyond a single day each year.

As citizens of a democracy, we can unite in celebrating Independence Day, while reflecting on its meaning and applying the values the holiday represents to our daily lives. In appreciating our nation’s many freedoms, we must remember the many underprivileged and persecuted around the world who are denied many of our nation's rights and privileges.

Independence Day is also a time to celebrate our College, Democracy’s College. MDC’s mission to provide a high-quality education to all who seek a better future, reflects America’s true identity. Like our country, MDC is fueled by many dreams and aspirations. I am proud of our efforts to bring these dreams to reality and thank you for your continuous dedication to our College and community.

Wishing you, your family and friends, a safe and happy Independence Day,

Eduardo
