Message From the President

Take Part in Miami Dade College's 2013 United Way Campaign

We each have the power to help make Miami-Dade County a more prosperous and healthy place to live, work and study. At Miami Dade College, we do just that every day by helping members of our community continue their journey to success through education.

Now through Nov. 2, MDC faculty, staff and students will again have the opportunity to help other members of our community continue their journey. There are several ways to make your United Way donation count:

  • Unrestricted donations can generate up to $2.16 in additional funds through matching grants, in-kind gifts and volunteer time.
  • Restricted donations, however, go directly to the non-profit organization of your choice, such as the MDC Foundation. Among the many deserving organizations, the MDC Foundation supports educational opportunities for our students through scholarships and grants.

Many employees use both methods to enhance the impact of their contribution.

Members of the MDC United Way Campaign Team, listed at the end of this message, will be announcing special events and asking you to become a part of this important initiative. When a member of the MDC United Way Campaign Team contacts you to ask for a contribution, please donate as generously as you can. You can make your donation by going towww.mdc.edu/unitedway.

Last year, MDC employees and students together raised more than $140,000, which was 16.6 percent more than our goal of $120,000. Our goal this year is to raise at least $125,000 in recognition of the United Way’s 125th birthday. I know that, with your help, even in these difficult financial times, we will achieve this goal.

Please make a decision to make a difference and show our community that MDC knows how to "Live United." For more details about the United Way, please visit www.unitedwaymiami.org.

Thank you for your continued support.

Eduardo
