Principal's 2014-2015 Message
Dear SAS Parents and Students,
As we embark on what promises to be another successful school year, I am delighted that you and your parents have decided to partner with School for Advanced Studies (SAS), to further your high school education and initiate your post-secondary studies. As Miami's "Collegiate High School," SAS continues to receive accolades as a nationally recognized high school of excellence. In August of this year, SAS was ranked as the 11th Best High School in America by the Daily Beast and was listed as one of the Washington Post 2014 Most Challenging High Schools in America. Aside from having among the highest SAT/ACT averages in the State of Florida, being courted by some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the U.S., and garnering many other prestigious recognitions, our students have remained grounded and true to themselves.
The success of our program is simply attributed to our rigorous course offerings, the resiliency of our students, the indefatigable commitment of our educators, and the overall strength and commitment of the partnership between Miami Dade County Public Schools and Miami Dade College.
Our goal is to continue building on our small learning community concept which provides individualized instruction to all our students, fosters innovative and collaborative teaching, and builds a nurturing environment without compromising our commitment to a rigorous academic curriculum. We will continue to collaborate, explore and embrace the digital convergence while providing instructional platforms that equip our students with the tools necessary to be at the cutting edge of educational transformation.
Our commitment to educational excellence, instructional equity, and research-based pedagogy will be at the forefront of our school vision. We will strive to build the resiliency or grit in our students to ensure they maximize their true potential. We will not be content with mediocrity or the status quo. We will operate under the premise that our best years are still ahead and that we are building the Great Wall of academic excellence, one brick at a time.
We look forward to partnering with you as we jointly create the climate in which your child can experience a personally rewarding and educationally enriching school year. On behalf of the faculty and staff of School for Advanced Studies, we welcome you and hope your experience at SAS is memorable and highly productive.
'SAS STRONG: 2015'
