Miami, December 4, 2013 - High school seniors all across the United States this week were notified if they had been selected as QuestBridge Scholars. Nationally, only 440 students out of 12,818 applicants (3%) were selected for this prestigious scholarship that enables students to go to the very best universities in this country.

School for Advanced Studies, a nationally recognized high school of excellence and a partnership between Miami Dade County Public Schools and Miami Dade College, received word today that four of its seniors in the SAS Class of 2014 were named as QuestBridge Scholars.

Sarah Chavarriaga and Samantha Gonzalez are both heading to Columbia, while Dario Nunez was matched with the University of Chicago, and Tiffany Vinci-Cannava was named as a QuestBridge Scholar for the University of Virginia. The 2014 U.S. News and World Report rankings of top national universities has Columbia at 4th, University of Chicago at 5th and the University of Virginia at 23rd.

The QuestBridge National College Match helps outstanding high school seniors gain admission and full four-year scholarships to some of the nation's most selective colleges. QuestBridge works with over 35 partner colleges that provide a scholarship that covers the full cost of tuition, room, and board, typically worth around $250,000 at Ivy League and other top schools and also pays for the students to come home to Miami twice a year to visit with their family.
