SAS Tops the Charts on 2012 ACT Test

Miami, August 22, 2012 - On August 22, 2012,  ACT, Inc, released district, state and national results on the ACT for the 2012 graduating class. We are very pleased with the results and how our students performed on this important exam used by colleges and universities as part of their admissions decision making process. These results are also used for qualification in many scholarship programs, including the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

At SAS, we are tremendously pleased that our 2012 graduates at all four campuses surpassed district, state and national averages, with all four campus placing in the top 5 among senior high schools in all Miami-Dade county, including charter schools.

The results of the 2012 SAT

On September 24, 2012, the College Board released results for the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT) for the graduating Class of 2012 and SAS students recorded several accomplishments:

• A record high number of SAS graduating seniors (100 percent) participated in the SAT in 2012, and the mean scores increased in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics at several of our campuses.

• In comparison to the nation, students' mean scores at all four SAS campuses  were higher than the national average in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
• In comparison to the other high schools in Miami, SAS recorded the 1st-4th highest means scores in Reading, Writing and Mathematics out of 63 M-DCPS schools, including Charter Schools.
