Important News Regarding
Nursing Entrance Exam!

As of now, an entrance exam is no longer required for admission to the Nursing program. The NLN PAX RN exam was used for entrance into the fall 2014 semester.

Effective after the September 2013 application deadline the TEAS exam was also no longer used as the entrance exam for the Nursing program. Previous TEAS scores were only acceptable through the September 2013 deadline.

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

ATTENTION: The TEAS V is currently not being offered at MDC Medical Campus Testing Center.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) measures basic essential skills in the academic content area of reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The test is intended for use primarily with adult nursing program applicants. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants. 

Beginning May 2, 2010, Nursing applicants will be required to take the TEAS, Version 5. The exam measures basic essential skills in the academic content areas of reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The test is a four option multiple choice examination with a 170 total questions and a time limit of 209 minutes. Calculators may not be used.

  • Reading: 58 minutes with 48 questions
  • Mathematics: 51 minutes with 34 questions
  • Science: 66 minutes with 54 questions
  • English and language usage: 34 minutes with 34 questions
