College Training & Development (CTD)
College Training & Development provides training for Miami Dade College employees to enhance their current skills and develop new skills to further their professional development.
Links to descriptions and schedules of workshops of particular interest to Project MÁS faculty are given below. If you cannot arrange to attend a workshop at a scheduled time, please contact Eddy Martinez, emartin1@mdc.edu, or Roberta Neway, rneway@mdc.edu, about scheduling training at another time.
Alternatively, as an MDC employee, you can register through CTD for online workshops in MS office applications, including FrontPage and PowerPoint. You work through these lessons in your office, in a campus training lab or at your home computer CTD will provide any help you need and answer your questions.

Flashlight
Flashlight is a resource that provides information on using technology as well as an application that allows you to create online surveys for students and preceptors. Templates for surveys are also available. Once your survey is created, you can email its URL to respondents. You can view results as they come in and download the final results to an Excel file.
The college has a site license for Flashlight.

Microsoft FrontPage is the web editor that the college uses to prepare content for online and web-enhanced classes as well as faculty web pages. On campus and online workshops are available to college employees through CTD. (Go to FrontPage Basics and/or Faculty Web Pages to see descriptions of specific CTD workshops. You can also register for an online workshop through CTD.)

Inspiration
Inspiration is an application that allows you to easily create flowcharts. These diagrams can be saved as webpages and used to present information through your WebCT courses or your Faculty Web Page. The College does not have a site license for Inspiration, so you need to request a license for this application through Title V.

PowerPoint
Many instructors use PowerPoint in the classroom, and you may want to adapt some of your presentations to use in a web-enhanced class or to link to your faculty web page. If you save your presentations as web pages, they will download more quickly; in addition, we now have a site license for Impatica for PowerPoint (an application that compresses PowerPoint into HTML files). Quandary
Quandary is an application that allows you to create interactive web-based mazes. It is a great way to present your students with 'real life' situations and let them see the potential consequences of their decisions. The college does not have a site license for Quandary, so you need to request a license for this application through Title V.

Respondus
Respondus is a tool available to MDC faculty for online test creation. With Respondus you can:
Create tests for WebCT (or on paper) offline using a simple text editor.
Import test banks from publishers or from text files and select questions at random or selectively for a specific test.
Provide feedback on individual answers or on the question in general.
Add formatting, images, media and attachments to questions.
Create and/or import the following question types:
Multiple Choice
Multiple Response
True/False
Matching
Short Answer
Paragraph

StudyMate
We now have a site license for StudyMate, a new application from Respondus. With StudyMate, you can easily create flash based activities and games to use in your WebCT class(es) or you can link these activities to your faculty webpage. You can create Fact Cards, Flash Cards, Fill in the Blank exercises, Pick a Letter exercises, Matching exercises, a Glossary, Multiple Choice exercises, and/or 'Challenge' games.

WebCT is the course management system that the college currently uses to deliver web-enhanced and online courses. You can use the WebCT interface to provide content, testing, and discussion areas online.
