Registered Nursing (Associate in Science)

Approximate Costs

As of August 2009, the cost of tuition is $86.19 per college credit for in-state students and $312.58 per college credit for out-of-state students. It is estimated that the 72 required credits and fees for graduation will cost in-state students $7,200.00 Students with out-of-state status will pay $22,200.00. In addition, students will need materials such as uniforms, books, shoes, physical exam/immunizations, watch, stethoscope, NCLEX-RN exam fee that are estimated as $2,220.00 Tuition is due at the beginning of each term and can be determined by multiplying the number of credits by the cost per credit hour.

It is estimated that the 72 required credits and fees for graduation will cost in-state students $4,172.00 Students with out-of-state status will pay 13,716.00. In addition, students will need materials such as uniforms, books, shoes, physical exam/immunizations, watch, stethoscope, NCLEX-RN exam fee that are estimated as $2,220.00 Tuition is due at the beginning of each term and can be determined by multiplying the number of credits by the cost per credit hour.

 

Financial Aid

All students at the Medical Center and the Homestead Campus should apply for financial aid, which includes the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Grant, Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Work Study, and Federal Subsidized loans. The Campus also offers emergency short-term loans and a variety of scholarships.

Application can be made in the Financial Aid Office (Room 1201) on the Medical Center Campus. Those who apply before April 1 st for the following academic year are given priority. Only courses in which students have registered before the 100 percent refund date qualify for financial aid. For additional information, call the Financial Aid personnel at 305-237-4160.

 

Successful completion of the MDC level two background check process or completion of a MDC nursing/health sciences program does not guarantee a graduate’s eligibility for participation in the professional credentialing process or for related employment. Credentialing agencies and health care employers may have additional eligibility criteria not required by an educational institution. Individualswho have been arrested or convicted for any crime are strongly urged to inquire directly of the licensing board in the jurisdiction in which they intend to practice.
