About the Program

  • Help build and strengthen skills to becoming a changemaker: empathy, leadership, communication and teamwork
  • Receive educational advice, career development, financial aid assistance and overall guidance from an experienced MDC Hialeah student
  • Build relationships and strengthen learning opportunities outside of the classroom
  • Have fun

Testimonials

I enrolled for the SCHOLARS program… [which] consists of having a mentor that explains goals and guidance into maintaining effective student life skills. My mentor discussed the importance of having my MAP on me at all times, registering for classes on time, and to be involved on campus.
I got lucky and was assigned to be in SCHOLARS, which I’m glad I had the honor to be chosen…Everyone should be provided with a mentor, in my opinion, because it’s such great help to talk to someone who knows how everything operates and has had college experience…
I eventually met with… [my] mentor, and it was a great experience meeting with him! I was all ears when [we] met… He was extremely helpful and insightful; I still keep in contact with him and ask for his advice on things that are not even school related at times.
Being able to experience a mentor’s guidance had taught me the important meaning of being a role model and that maybe I can one day fulfill in those shoes and help out students…
I was part of the SCHOLARS program where we did a lot of great things.
