MDC’S WORKING SOLUTIONS PROGRAM HOSTS GRADUATION CELEBRATION WITH PARTNER WACHOVIA

~ June 23rd at Noon ~

MIAMI, June 22, 2005 – The Working Solutions Program, a displaced homemaker trust fund program at Miami Dade College, in collaboration with Wachovia Bank, will host a Graduation Celebration on Thursday, June 23rd, at noon, Wolfson Campus, 300 NE 2nd Ave, Room 2106.

The event will honor those who have completed Working Solutions courses, the Wachovia Money Smart curriculum and have obtained employment in 2005.

“At the Working Solutions Program participants improve their computer skills with our tutorial courses, and financial management classes,” said Linda S. Scharf, Ph.D., Program Manager, Working Solutions Program.

The Working Solutions program has helped launch the careers of many who thought their lives would never be headed in the right direction. Like a 52-year-old mother and grandmother who spent most of her life caring for her disabled brother. Three years ago, thanks to the Working Solutions program, she was able to return to school.  After making the Dean’s List on several occasions and earning a cumulative GPA of 3.54, she is on track to finally having the career she always knew she could have. She is currently working toward an Associate in Science degree in radiation therapy and credits the Working Solutions program for encouraging her to both enter and stay in school. This and many other success stories can be heard at the 2005, Working Solutions Graduation Luncheon.
