Joshua Braun obtained an M.A. in Theater (Acting and Directing) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a B.F.A. in Theater (Performance) from the University of Florida. He has been the Director of Theatre at the Wolfson Campus since 1993.
During his tenure he has produced and directed over two dozen productions including plays by Romulus Linney, Joe Orton, Tennessee Williams, Harold Pinter, and Neil LaBute.
His 1996 production of Boys'Life, by Howard Korder, participated in the American College Theater Festival and was rewarded with Irene Ryan nominations for three of the student performers. Most recently, Mr. Braun directed Life During Wartime, by Keith Reddin, and three short plays from the collection Autobahn, by Neil LaBute. He has also served as an adjudicator and workshop leader for the Florida Thespian Society State
Festival, and as a respondent for the American College Theater Festival.
In addition to his work at Miami Dade College, Mr. Braun is a frequent collaborator with the Inside Out Theatre Company, a non-profit company founded by his wife Robin Braun, which is dedicated to building character in children through the performing arts. This unique company creates original musical plays to be performed by children that highlight values associated with good character. Mr. Braun is co-author of several plays including Mighty Mouth, a play about the power children have to effect change, and Paradise, a musical re-telling of the Adam and Eve story which focuses on taking responsibility for our actions. In 2008 Mr. Braun's play Billions Served was honored as the first prize winner at the inaugural International Jewish Short Plays Competition and his effort for the same competition in 2009, Hot Knife, was designated as "honorable mention."
