Sabrina Bano Jamil earned her M.A. degree in Philosophy and her B.A. in Philosophy and Classics from Florida State University. Her areas of specialization are in Philosophy of Feminism and Philosophy of Biology. Her main research interests have to do with the interaction of society and science, especially as it applies to issues of ethical importance. She is currently writing on biology and feminism, with a focus on how biologists and feminists can work together to improve both the condition of women and our knowledge about ourselves as biological creatures.

Ms. Jamil believes strongly in providing service to the community, and as such has been both a member and adviser of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service organization. She has also been an active member of the Society for Women's Advancement in Philosophy (SWAP), an organization that strives to promote the place of women within the academic field of philosophy. She has served as a speaker and referee at SWAP's annual conferences.

Prior to her current position at MDC, Ms. Jamil has worked in a variety of positions; she has been an editor, an admissions counselor, an office manager, and a bank teller, among other things. She believes that her varying experiences bring a great deal of insight into her academic life. In her spare time, Ms. Jamil enjoys practicing yoga, spending time with her family, and reading a wide variety of books.
