Financial aid is a federal service that is provided free of charge. Help and guidance is available at the College’s financial aid offices at no cost. It is recommended that you exercise caution around any organization or person that offers to help you or provide services for a fee.
Financial aid comes in a variety of forms:
Grants | Grants are often based on financial need and do not need to be repaid (unless, for example, you withdraw from school and owe a refund). |
Scholarships | Scholarships generally do not have to be repaid. They are funds awarded to students based on academic or other achievements. |
Work-Study | This is a federal student aid program that provides part-time employment while you are enrolled in at least 6 credits during each term. |
Loans | A loan is money you borrow and must repaid. |
Single Stop | Single Stop is a one-stop source for students and immediate family members to be connected to public benefits and local resources. Single Stop offers students a wide array of services including benefits screening, free tax preparation, financial coaching, Food Pantry for Students and health insurance assistance. |
Stipend Payments | Stipend payments are awards that are offered through sponsored programs. If the stipend is paid for work it is not to be counted towards cost of attendance. Stipends may be paid as scholarships, grants,or other means to support educational or training costs. For more information, please contact the department awarding the stipend. |
