The
Information Center |
The
Information Center is part of a Federal Title V Grant awarded to the
Wolfson Campus over five years. It is the only program of its kind at M-DC
and a pioneer in the nation. |

improve student success and retention. |

Our Staff's Attitude is Students First
The
Information
Center staff
consists of the activity director, seven tel e-advisors and a clerical
assistant. Each tel e-advisor has access to four different computer
systems: Odyssey, the MDC student database; SAFE, for financial
aid purposes; Davox agent screen; and their personal call records.
The tel e-advisors provide aggressive intervention by reaching out
to students at pre-determined critical contact points to reduce
student attrition and to increase completion rates.

Our Students Come From Different Backgrounds
The
tel e-advisors offer academic guidance and support to 1,500 students
from three groups: first-time in college students, students enrolled in
the English for Non-Native Speakers program, and students in good
standing who have ceased attending college.

Just One Call Can Make A Difference
The call
automation feature is operated by a predictive dialer system, which
automatically dials a student’s phone number, determines that a live
person has answered, and connects the call to a tel e-advisor. By
customizing the Davox software application, the tel e-advisors can
stress different student retention areas:
