Dr. Jeffrey S. Hodgson is Provost and Chief Executive Officer of New World School of the Arts (NWSA). He previously served as Dean of Music and was a piano professor at NWSA.
Dr. Hodgson earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami in piano performance studying with the famed American pianist Ivan Davis. In addition he has studied with Luiz de Moura Castro and Boaz Sharon, holding a Bachelor of Music degree from The Hartt School (University of Hartford) and the Master of Music degree from University of Florida. A native of South Dakota, Dr. Hodgson studied piano since age 5 and began teaching and performing while still in high school. He is an active educator and performer and has coached and collaborated with opera and musical theater singers from Minnesota Opera, Connecticut Opera and Goldcoast Opera. He has adjudicated competitions for MTNA and Federation, served as the State of Florida competition coordinator for MTNA and served on the Board of Directors of Miami Music Teachers Association (MMTA). He serves as a Visiting Evaluator for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Most recently he performed Beethoven's Waldstein piano sonata on stage with dancers performing choreography by José Limón and Daniel Lewis.
