Summer Youth Internship Program
Earn Dual Enrollment Credit for Participating in the M-DCPS Summer Youth Internship Program
Miami Dade County Public Schools, in collaboration with sponsoring organizeations, provides opportunities for students to participate in the Summer Youth Internship Program. The internship experience gives students a chance to gain real-world, hands-on experience, make lasting professional connections, and discover more about their interests and proficiency along a specific career path. Students that participate in this program can earn dual enrollment credit at Miami Dade College. For more information, please visit the Summer Youth Internship Website.
Eligibility for dual enrollment participation:
- Students must be in the 10th grade or above between the ages of 15-18 enrolled in a Miami Dade County Public School.
- Meet the eligibility requirements of Miami Dade County Public Schools
- Must have a 2.5 weighted High School GPA
Earn Dual Enrollment Credit for the Following Courses
- CIS1949: Co-op Work Experience 1: Computer Information Systems
Designed as a work experience for students majoring in computer information systems programs. Students will learn to apply the skills and knowledge that they have acquired through their program of study in a real work environment.
- EGN1949: Co-op Work Experience 1: Engineering
Designed for students majoring in engineering programs. Students will learn to apply the skills and knowledge that they have acquired through their program of study in a real work environment.
- GEB1949: General Business Internship 1
Internship provides students with an opportunity to gain business experience while receiving academic credit. Students will learn to make connections between their internship experiences, academic coursework, and career goals.
- GEB2949: General Business Internship 2
This internship is a continuation of GEB 1949 and provides students with an opportunity to gain business experience while receiving academic credit. Students will learn to make connections between their internship experiences, academic coursework, and career goals.
- EME2040: Creativity, Innovation, and Technology for the 21st Century Learner
The student will learn to manage a productive and safe technology environment by promoting creativity and innovation in the classroom. The student will gain 21st century knowledge, skills, and attitudes for applying technology.
- GEB1949: General Business Internship 1: (Banker's Camp ONLY)
Designed for students majoring in engineering programs. Students will learn to apply the skills and knowledge that they have acquired through their program of study in a real work environment.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for dual enrollment participation, students must meet the following criteria:
- Meet the eligibility requirements of Miami Dade County Public Schools
- Have a minimum 2.5 weighted High School GPA.
- Complete the admissions application at Miami Dade College and the SYIP Program Registration Form

Step 1: Apply for Admission and Activate Your Student Account
Step 2: Complete the MDC SYIP Program Registration Form
Step 3: Wait for your official Email Registration
- Miami Dade College’s Dual Enrollment Coordination Team will verify your participation with Miami Dade County Public Schools and register you for the internship course indicated on the MDC SYIP Course Registration Form.
