Holocaust and Genocide Education Program

Overview

Our program is dedicated to promoting Holocaust and Genocide awareness via college courses and co-curricular programs. With five courses on the subject, and on under development, the program is expanding to increase awareness and involvement from the MDC and local communities.

Our Mission

In collaboration with Miami Dade College’s efforts to encourage civic, social, and personal responsibility.  The Holocaust and Genocide Education Program will develop a deeper awareness and understanding of the impact of the Holocaust and Genocide upon students, pre-service teachers, and community members.

Our History

In 2008, professors Randall Kaufman, Magdalena Lamarre, and Herrman Munoz introduced EUH2032-History of the Holocaust to MDC, ushering in the Holocaust and Genocide Education Program. From that start, the College expanded the program to 5 for-credit courses and presented over 100 community events reaching an audience of over 15,000. Programs have ranged from Kristallnacht commemorations to Genocide in the Congo.
