Dear Colleagues,

As we officially mark a new and invigorating academic year, today’s College Convocation was a successful event that brought together our Miami Dade College family to celebrate another milestone in our history. It was an opportunity to reflect on the noteworthy achievements we’ve made during the past 12 months and get motivated to continue furthering the mission of MDC. 

I am filled with gratitude to have been able to join all of our world-class faculty and staff for this joyous event that fueled inspiration and purpose at MDC. I’m confident that throughout this new year we will continue working together to optimize for the future. I believe that we have many reasons to have great pride in our accomplishments and look forward with great enthusiasm to what we have in store ahead. It’s going to take all of us to continue to reimagine student success, accelerate academic excellence and innovation, value a culture of care to enhance student outcomes, fuel the talent needs of a global economy, and secure our future. 

As we prepare to welcome our students back onto campus next week, remember that you play an essential role in guiding them through their journey at MDC. By caring for our students and creating a sense of belonging, we can advance student outcomes. As a united MDC, we are the agile agents of change who are accelerating impact. I look forward to working with every member of our MDC family to create even more innovative pathways that will engage, empower and elevate the students and the communities we serve. I offer my sincerest appreciation to everyone and wish you a wonderful new academic year. 

I would also like to thank and commend the Medical Campus faculty and others who came to the aid of our colleague who had a fall and is now doing better. It is clear that empathy and compassion are hallmarks at MDC.
