Dear MDC Family,
As our students continue to drive academic excellence, I’m proud to share the exciting news that four Miami Dade College student publications—AXIS, Urbana, Miambiance and The Reporter—have been awarded the prestigious Pacemaker award. The prize, awarded by the Associated Collegiate Press, is the highest distinction given to collegiate publications. Our students were recognized over the weekend with the esteemed awards during the Fall National College Media Convention in Washington, D.C., where they had the opportunity to collaborate and learn from some of the nation’s top journalists.
Honored as being the nation’s best in the newspaper category, The Reporter, has won three Pacemakers since its founding in 2010 and was awarded the prize last year. In the student magazine category, AXIS at North Campus,
Urbana at Padrón Campus and Miambiance at Kendall Campus, each took home Pacemaker awards as well. This is the second year in a row in which AXIS received this recognition.
I’d like to thank our world-class faculty who served as advisers to our students and helped them reach this remarkable accomplishment. Your exemplary dedication to inspiring them each day is admirable.
Join me in congratulating our students and faculty. We are so proud of them! |
