Miami Dade College is proud to celebrate a historic gift that will help us build upon our mission of being the pathway to the American Dream. Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to come together as an MDC family to honor our graduates and announce a transformational $20 million investment from Citadel founder and CEO Kenneth Griffin, which will establish the Griffin Scholarship Fund
to provide all qualifying high-school graduates in Miami-Dade County access to a high-quality college education. We are deeply grateful for this investment in our students, which will undoubtedly impact and accelerate our efforts in ensuring that every student has an opportunity to achieve economic mobility.
As Democracy’s College, MDC is the steward of the historic Freedom Tower donated by Pedro Martin Terra and his family. Since our founding, we have been dedicated to transforming students’ lives through academic excellence, innovation, and opportunity. At MDC we recognize that over half of our students come from low-income households and we know that opportunity changes everything. With this transformational gift, we are empowered to continue reimagining student success and academic excellence that is made possible at MDC through the dedication of our world-class faculty and staff.
