Decoding the Ballot
These three steps will help you get started:
- Look up your official customized sample ballot or use Vote Miami's Civic Engine tool.
- Research the candidates that are running for office.
- Research the amendments on the ballot.
Researching Candidates
- Visit votemiami.org to research the candidates for the 2020 General Election
- Watch candidate debates and forums
- Read local coverage of the election (for example, the Miami Herald and WLRN)
- Practice good media literacy skills as you explore information on issues and candidates
- If they are currently elected (an incumbent), read their voting record
- Read about their policy platform and determine if your values align
