Fisk University was incorporated in 1867. It has played a major leadership role in the education of African-Americans. It offers undergraduate, pre-professional and graduate programs of study. Fisk has been included for the past 10 years in Money Magazine’s “100 Best College Buys.” Over 70% of Fisk graduates go on to attend graduate and professional schools. Fisk University has been recognized as one of the best liberal arts schools in the nation in terms of research, service learning opportunities and its work to aid the social mobility of first generation college students. |
Transfer Agreement Highlights |
To be admitted to Fisk University, MDC students must: submit handwritten essay and a completed Fisk University Undergraduate application; have a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; submit official MDC transcripts; submit letter of recommendation from one MDC instructor, and submit Fisk University School Report form. Students with an AA from MDC will be considered to have satisfied Fisk University’s core course requirements with the exception of Core 60, an upper level Fisk University general education seminar. |
Scholarships |
Fisk University awards financial aid based on documented need. MDC transfer students will be considered for all financial aid, grants, and scholarships. Fisk University will provide partial, but substantial scholarship funds for two MDC students each year to support tuition, books, room and board. Tuition alone at Fisk is approximately $13,230 per year. |
