Western Governors University is the only accredited university in the U.S. offering online competency-based degree programs. The private, non-profit university was founded and is supported by 19 US governors, as well as over 20 leading corporations and foundations. WGU is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and is also nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The mission of WGU is to provide affordable postsecondary education access to working adults and others who cannot easily attend a campus-based degree program. Access is provided with 100% online bachelors and master degrees. |
Transfer Agreement Highlights |
Students with an AA and AS degree will enter WGU with upper-division standing if they are transferring into a related field in one of four degree areas: Education, Business, Information Technology and Nursing. Graduates with AA or AS degrees in an unrelated field will enter having satisfied WGUs general education requirements. Graduates with an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) will satisfy course requirements through a course-by-course transcript review. Scholarships |
Tuition at WGU is exceptionally affordable, and is charged at a flat rate every six months and covers all coursework attempted in that time. Graduate, staff and faculty may apply for federal financial aid, including Pell Grants, and other relevant scholarships available at the time of matriculation. VA benefits and tuition assistance are also available. |
