MINUTES

Guest: Christian Simon, PhD, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland

Call To Order                       The meeting was called to order by the Chair, Dr. Georgie
                                          Labadie at 10:05.  Members introduced themselves.

Approval of the Agenda        The Agenda was approved.

Approval of Minutes             The minutes were approved.

Reports                             Dr. Petrozella shared the report in the packet she submitted to                                         the Academic Dean in August.

Planning for Conference      Dr. Ken Goodman discussed resources available including
                                       The Florida Bioethics Network and upcoming Conference
                                       in April. A general discussion ensued. A committee was appointed                                        to work on a 2 hour seminar tentatively scheduled for March 17,                                        2008 12-1:30. This seminar will    be developed around a                                        multidiscipline case study. Committee members include: Drs.                                        Davis, Denker and Labadie. Student Life will be invited to co-sponsor.

Learning Outcomes            The College has just adopted 10 Learning Outcomes.
                                       Presentation included the outcomes that are reflected in
                                       the mission and vision of the Institute.

Miami Dade College          Mrs. Colleen Ahern-hettich, Director of the Earth Ethics Earth Ethics                                       Institute Institute shared how the Ethics and Earth Ethics Institute                                       have Partnered with activities for students and faculty. Included in                                       her report were her activities as a task force member for the

Climate                           Change Task Force. Dr. Goodman and Mrs. Ahern hettich discussed                                       further collaborative efforts.

Election of Chair               Dr. Kate Callahan was elected Chair for 2008. Dr. Labadie was                                       formally acknowledged for her work as chair since the
                                      Beginning of the Institute.

Next Advisory Meeting     The next meeting is scheduled for April 25, 2008 10-11AM

Adjournment                  The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 AM. Members continued
                                    Informal sharing.
