Computer Competency Test (iCBE CGS 1060C)
Effective 1/1/2025 the Institutional Credit-by-Exam, CGS 1060C (Introduction to Computer Technology & Applications) replaced the CSP (Computer Skills Placement) test. The CSP is no longer available to satisfy the computer competency requirement. The CGS 1060C iCBE will be available on or about January 15.
The Computer Competency Test (CCT) at MDC can be taken by students for course credit iCBE CGS 1060C or simply to satisfy the computer competency requirement for graduation. This one hour test consists of 50 questions, approximately half are multiple choice, while the other half are simulations and requires a test score of 60% to pass. By submitting the CGS 1060C iCBE Credit Request Form, MDC students are requesting college credit for CGS 1060C. Eligible students must complete and submit this online iCBE Request Form within 30 days of their exam date. Visit the iCBE - Institutional Credit-by-Exam webpage for additional information.
The test includes the topics shown below. The sections labeled "simulation" will test your ability to complete the listed skills by clicking and typing in an interactive window. The rest of the sections will be assessed via multiple-choice questions. For those topics, know the definition, basic aspects, and common examples (where applicable).

Only one retest is permitted for iCBE CGS 1060C to demonstrate competency. A retest cannot be used for awarding credit.
