Midwifery (Associate in Science)
Eligibility for Licensure
Upon completion of the Associate in Science Degree in Midwifery, graduates are eligible to apply to take the North American Registry of Midwives national certification examination to become a Certified Professional Midwife. Final determination of the applicant’s ability to sit for the certification examination is made by the North American Registry of Midwives. For more information visit their web site: www.NARM.org
A graduate of the Miami Dade College Associate in Science in Midwifery program who passes the North American Registry of Midwives national certification examination is eligible to apply to become a Florida License Midwife. Final determination of the applicant’s ability to become a Florida Licensed Midwife is made by the Florida Department of Health Council of Licensed Midwifery.
Individuals who have been convicted of a felony and/or have had a license denied in another health care field or in midwifery in another jurisdiction may not be eligible for licensure as a Florida Licensed Midwife. Disclosure of convictions greater than a traffic ticket is required on the Midwifery Program application at the time the application is submitted.
