What is the President's Volunteer Service Award?

The PVSA recognizes individuals and groups who have contributed a certain number of hours to the community through service over a 12-month period. The award was created as a way to honor Americans who are engaged and who inspire others to become engaged in their communities.

How can I earn the PVSA?

All students and faculty members who have completed 100 or more of legitimate service-learning or volunteer service hours over a 12-month period and have documentation qualify for this prestigious nationally-recognized award.

Student organizations completing 200 or more hours of service to the community over a 12-month period are eligible to apply.

How can I apply for the PVSA?

You can download an application form using the links below or pick up a hard copy from the iCED office located at your campus. See contacts. (link) Please turn in your application with original documentation to your campus iCED office. All further instructions to apply for the PVSA are listed on the application. Applications are processed at the end of the spring term each year. To be eligible for the 2013 award, the application deadline is May 6, 2013.

Amounts are number of hours completed over a 12-month period, unless noted otherwise.

Silver

Individuals: 175-249
Groups: 500-999

Gold

Individuals: 250+
Groups: 1,000+

Lifetime

Individuals: 4,000+ (over an individual's lifetime)
