Fire Safety Inspector Preparation Courses

The Fire Safety Inspector Preparation Course Series is a 208 contact hour accelerated series that prepares students to take the Fire Safety Inspector certification state examination from the Florida State Fire Marshal Office.

The series consists of six courses and is offered in a period of 14 weeks. The series is normally offered in the evenings from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. These courses are offered 3 times annually beginning in August, January, and May, based on demand. Upon successful completion of these courses and the state certification examination, students will be eligible to apply for positions within governmental agencies and private industry.

Fire Fighter Certification

The Fire Fighter Minimum Standards Program meets the requirements for certification as a paid, professional firefighter as set forth by the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, State Fire Marshal Office. The Program consists of a 450-hour Fire Fighter Minimum Standards class. Included in the Fire Fighter Minimum Standards Program are the written and practical portions of the State Firefighter Certification examination.

Proof of a USDOT First Responder course or state certification as an EMT or paramedic is required for approval to take the state certification examination.  We offer First Responder courses in January and June each year.

Entry into the program consists of application submission, attendance at an Informational Session, satisfying the T.A.B.E. requirement, and passing a medical examination by the deadlines. 

The Fire Fighter Minimum Standards Program is a physically and mentally challenging course that includes extensive classroom and practical field components. The Fire Fighter Minimum Standards Program is offered in two class schedules, a full-time day class schedule and a part-time night class schedule. The full-time class schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is twelve weeks in length. The part-time schedule is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The part-time class is approximately six months in length.

Full time courses start in January, March, June, and September. Part time courses start in January and June.

Live Fire Trainer I Certification

The 40 hour Live Fire Trainer I course meets the requirements of the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training for a student to take the state certification examination.

The 8 hour refresher course meets the requirements for the continuing education to recertify as a Live Fire Trainer I.

Live Fire Training

Our live fire training courses feature a variety of realistic scenarios that hone skills and develop situational awareness.

  • Burn Building – Our two story burn building comprises three burn rooms on the first floor utilizing gas fired props and two Class A burn rooms on the second floor. Multiple and varied training evolutions can provide the new fire fighter and the seasoned fire fighter a challenging live fire platform to increase their fire extinguishment skills and hose management abilities.
  • Exterior Live Fire Prop Field – All these props are live fire using LPG which includes a flammable liquid tank, a pressurized flange, transformer fire, and liquid fire pit.
  • Vehicle Prop – This live fire gas prop has three different fire compartments; the engine, passenger, and truck for a realistic scenario based training for response to vehicle fires.

Custom Training Packages

We can customize training curses or packages to meet the needs and requirements of the customer using our classrooms, seven story training tower, large training ground with multiple hydrants, exterior live fire props, forcible entry propos, fire fighter self-rescue props, burn building, and other training platforms.
