I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you as you embark on your journey at the School of Education here at Miami Dade College. My name is Dr. Carmen S. Concepción, and I have the distinct privilege of serving as the Dean of the School of Education at this remarkable institution. I want to share a bit about my own journey, one that started right here at MDC as a student aspiring to become a teacher and eventually led me to the role of Dean. My story is a testament to the incredible possibilities that education can offer, and I want you to know that if I can do it, so can you.

Like many of you, I began my educational journey as a student with a passion for teaching. I enrolled at Miami Dade College with a dream of making a difference in the lives of students and in our community. Miami Dade College provided me with the knowledge, skills, and support I needed to turn that dream into a reality.

My journey was not without challenges, but with dedication, perseverance, and the guidance of talented educators, I overcame those obstacles. As I advanced in my academic pursuits, I came to appreciate the opportunities that education can offer. Through a progressive journey that saw me transition from a student to a teacher, then to an instructional coach, a professional learning leader, and ultimately to the position of Dean of the School of Education I realized the many benefits of this educational path.

Now, as Dean, my primary mission is to support and empower you on your journey. The School of Education stands as a steadfast resource, committed to equipping you with not only the essential tools but also the comprehensive knowledge and diverse opportunities necessary to thrive and excel. Our collective goal is to ensure your success, and we are fully dedicated to this pursuit.
