Operation Pedro Pan at the Freedom Tower

The Freedom Tower is honoring its history as the temporary home of the Cuban Refugee Center by providing a searchable database of individuals who came to Miami through Operation Pedro Pan. From 1960 to 1962, approximately 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban minors arrived in the United States to escape communism. Miami Dade College is committed to gathering information on these individuals, providing a central, public format for museum visitors to memorialize, honor, and remember this significant part of American history.
