Nelnet Payment Plan Frequently Asked Questions
The Nelnet Payment Plan is available to students who need an option for paying course and tuition fees/credit unit fees not covered by Financial Aid and/or other sources. Break down your tuition balance into affordable monthly payments. There is no interest, finance charges or credit check. Payment options are flexible and setup fees are affordable. Enrollment in this plan is easy and available online.
- You must be enrolled in classes before you can enroll in the Nelnet Payment Plan
- A new plan is required for each term.
- The earlier you sign up, the more payment options you have and the lower your enrollment fee and down payment.
Plan Fees & Steps to Create
There is a $40 per semester non-refundable sign-up fee for using the Nelnet Payment Plan. View our most frequently asked questions. Plans are made term-by-term. To make a new payment plan follow the steps below:
- Log into MDConnect
- Select the “Financial Account” tile
- Select the “Make a Payment” tab
- Check the “Pay” checkbox for each individual charge
- Select “Nelnet” as your payment method
- Select the “Continue” button
- Follow steps to create a Payment plan through Nelnet

Maximum Amount to Budget
The maximum amount you may budget is $4500, any amount over this will be added to your down payment.

My Payment Plan enables you to view the current status of your payment plan, account balance, payment amount, and manage your account. Once you complete your payment plan go to https://mycollegepaymentplan.com/mdc/ to set up your account.
