STEM AXIS
Be part of a positive college experience and get the support needed to meet your educational goals. STEM AXIS provides a safe haven for STEM students to network and obtain academic assistance. Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) are available to offer tips on effective ways to study and provide tutoring for math and science courses.
Help with Courses/Tutoring
On average, students perform better in math and science courses when they receive tutoring throughout the semester. This service is offered one-on-one by PALs who are trained on various approaches to deliver quality tutoring services, while taking into consideration the individual needs of students. Tutoring is offered at no cost, on a first come, first serve basis for biology, chemistry, physics, and math courses.
About Our PALs
Our Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) are current Miami Dade College STEM students who have excelled in their courses, specifically math and chemistry. They are high achieving students who are interested in supporting their campus community by tutoring their peers, leading Peer-Led Team Learning sessions, and working with faculty to support course-based projects. At the STEM Center, PALs may review and explain assignments, and help students better understand their course material. They do not provide answers to homework, quizzes, exams, etc.
